Clinical Care

Dental cleanings/extractions
Routine dental care is as important for your pet as it is for you. We offer dental prophylaxis as well as fluoride treatment. OraVet Barrier Sealant is a part of all dental cleanings and creates an invisible barrier that prevents plaque- and tartar-forming bacteria from attaching to your pet's newly cleaned teeth. Better oral health can lead to a longer life for your pet.

The hospital is proud to offer dental x-rays. Dental x-rays are necessary in order to diagnose diseases that are below the surface and not apparent on a routine examination.

On-site laboratory
We offer comprehensive in-house laboratory services including:
  • CBC
  • Blood chemistries
  • Electrolytes
  • Thyroid and Adrenal hormone testing
  • Fecal parasite examination, including giardia.
We also offer in-house testing with eight minute turnaround for:
  • Heartworm disease
  • Lyme disease
  • Ehrlichia disease
  • Feline Leukemia Virus
  • Feline Immunodeficiency Virus

Pain Management

Pharmacy
In order to rapidly meet your pet's medical needs we carry a full range of veterinary pharmaceuticals. Prescriptions are filled while you wait and can be specially tailored to your pet's needs. One way that we do this is through the use of FLAVORx. For those pets that are difficult to medicate we can compound most oral medications into one of 16 different flavored liquids making medication administration a piece of cake! Some of our client's favorites include chicken pot pie, sardine splendor and mom's banana bread. Ask us how we can help you medicate your pet in an easier way.

Radiographs
We offer in house radiographs with rapid automatic processing. This minimizes a patient's stay in the hospital and allows for rapid diagnosis and treatment. Our radiographs are read by our doctors and a board-certified veterinary radiologist using telemedicine and the service of PetRays Veterinary Radiology Consultants.

Surgery
General surgery, Laser surgery, and Orthopedic surgery. Click here to learn more.

Ultrasound/telemedicine
We offer in house ultrasound services. This allows us to diagnose internal diseases that are not readily apparent on x-rays. 100% of ultrasounds performed at the hospital are reviewed by a specialist. Consultations are the same day.

Acupuncture and Herbal Therapy
Acupuncture is a form of therapy in which small needles are carefully inserted into specific areas (called acupoints) to obtain a beneficial result throughout the body. The overall goal is to harmonize the enrgy of the body for a healthier patient. Acupuncture is used successfully in the treatment of a variety of disorders, including but not limited to, arthritis, spinal disk disease, allergies, upper respiratory infections, gastrointestinal disorders, anorexia, and post-operative pain management. At Kentlands Veterinary Hospital we are using acupuncture in conjunction with herbal medicine for a more complete treatment.
